Art? Film craft? Charity? …Well it's basically about everything and everyone. It's about you and me. It's about the difference we can make if we are doing it together.
We live in a world where you can accomplish whatever you want if you really believe in it. But not everyone can dare to think that way. Not everyone can take a safe future for granted.
During the shoot of this video each of these nine canvases became a unique piece of art. On their own they are individual art pieces. Looked at them together they create one big picture.
We want you to become part of the bigger picture by supporting this project. Every single cent raised by selling the nine art pieces and donation received for the project goes to the humanitarian institution SKIP (Support Kids in Peru).
If you all help us to make this a success, the initiators of this project are going to travel to Peru in summer 2014 to shoot a documentary about the impact and changes you guys made possible by becoming part of the bigger picture.
Become a part of the bigger picture by purchasing your favorite piece. All the money from the sales goes directly to the humanitarian institution SKIP. The initiators financed this project at their own expenses and will not use a single cent for their own purposes. By purchasing a piece you can call yourself the owner of a one of a kind art piece and in addition to that you help economically-disadvantaged kids to realize their right for an education.
If you like the project, but your walls are packed with art already, you can also support the project by donating.
Every single one of those art pieces was created during the shoot of this video. Aemka painted those nine canvases in one nights time. That's pretty amazing already, isn't it? Copies of these art pieces are nonexistent, every piece is completely unique.
The sizes of the canvases go from 20x20cm up to 100x100cm. Each piece comes with a wooden badge, which is numbered and signed. You will find the specs and more pictures of each piece in the shop.
The creators of this project are David Bertschinger Karg and Mike Knobel. They know each other trough snowboarding, a passion they share. David loves to realize motion picture projects and Mike loves to make art. They teamed up to create this platform, allowing to help others through things they love to do.
Director / Filmer
Before spending the main part of his life in Switzerland, David was born in Peru and lived in Mexico till the age of 5. Growing up so close to the mountains let him discover snowboarding, a lifestyle which changed his life. Travelling the world as a professional snowboarder got him to see places he would have never seen and meet people he would have never met if it wasn’t for his profession. Through snowboarding he also discovered the art of filmmaking. Telling a story and triggering people's emotions, is what got David hooked on film making.
Born in North Carolina, USA, Mike Knobel grew up part time in Switzerland and part time in the U.S. After finally settling in Switzerland he caught wind of the rapidly growing trend, snowboarding. Next to his artistic urge, this turned out to be one of the most time consuming things in his life, which has had a hold of him ever since. Up to this date, he has been snowboarding and creatively expressing himself as much as possible, from drawing and painting to designing outerwear lines, print media and much more.
All this would not have been possible to achieve without the help of other people. Everyone involved in this project helped out voluntary and every single one of them deserves a big thank you for that!
